Jefferson County is our primary focus; however, we are expanding our coverage to include Lewis County. Also during our travels we've had the opportunity to visit cemeteries in Oswego County, they've been included as well. Over 200 cemeteries are estimated to be in Jefferson County alone. They range in size from small family burial grounds with one or two burials to large active cemeteries with over 17,000 burials.

Previously only those cemeteries that we had visited were listed; however, in order to provide better coverage of the two counties we're concentrating on, the list now includes all known or suspected cemeteries. Currently this expansion is only for Jefferson County, but will ultimately include Lewis County as well. Descriptions of individual cemeteries are only available for those cemeteries we've visited.

Cemeteries located on Fort Drum, with the exception of the Prisoner of War Cemetery (POW), are listed under the town in which they were located prior to the 1941 expansion. Only those cemeteries we have visited are included on the following list.

With few exceptions, the primary name is based on the U. S. Board on Geographic Names (BGN) database. This is done so that the cemetery can be easily found on maps.
