Alverson

John Alverson native of Vermont settled in Hounsfield NY in April 1829. He died June 13 1829 at the age of 44y 4m. John married Sarah Frink of Vermont in 1806. Children of John Alverson & Sarah Frink: *Almanson *Polly, *Lydia, *Samuel.
Samuel Alverson born 1811 in Halifax, VT died 1895. He moved to Hounsfield in 1829 with his parents. He married Mary Wiley (daughter of William Wiley) born 1820 died 1920. Samuel a successful farmer in Hounsfield. Children of Samuel Alverson & Mary Wiley: *William, *Lavinia, *Mary (died 19 July 1863 2m), *John died 1842, *Walter born 1844 died 1922 married Emma (born 1849 died 1907), *Albert died 15 May 1865 17y 4m 27, *Samuel, Jr b 1850 his wife Fannie K ( 1851 - 1922).

Bates

Samuel Bates Jr. of Massachusetts in the spring of 1801 along with Aaron Blodgett arrived in Hounsfield NY. Samuel purchased 285 acres in the southeast part of Hounsfield making the first clearing of land in Hounsfield. After erecting a log house, Samuel returned to Massachusetts in 1802 for his wife Hannah, and five children (three sons and two daughters).
Hounsfield First Town Meeting was held on March 4th 1806. Samuel Bates Jr., Amasa Fox, William Baker, and Theron Hinman where chosen as the first Town Assessors. Samuel participated at the Battle of Sackets Harbor with Captain Camps Artillery. He fired the 32-pound gun that helped keep the British Fleet from entering Sackets Harbor. While assisting with the construction of Madison Barracks, he became sick and died on Feb 13 1813. Merrick M. Bates eldest son and second child born (July 10 1801) in Brimfield Massachusetts. He died June 18 1882 Hounsfield NY. He married 1st Abigail Stowell of Hounsfield in 1816. She was the daughter of Osline Stowell. She died July 17 1845. They had 10 children. He served in the 21st Regiment NY Light Artillery with the rank of Colonel. Children of Merrick & Abigail: * Sarah Bates (married John Winslow), *Alden B Bates died September 2 1867 age 27y 7m 8d. Merrick married 2nd Elmina H Tucker she died December 18 1848 age 32y 8m. He married 3rd Mary S Stewart who died January 9 1879.

Boulton

Henry Boulton born 1804 in Norfolk, England died in1868 at the age of 65y. He married Elisabeth E. Jackson (born 1797 in England and died in 1877 at the of age 83). Both are buried in Sackets Harbor. Henry immigrated to Sackets Harbor in 1830. Henry a stone mason by trade built sidewalks in the Village of Sackets Harbor. Boyd

Richard Boyd, a native of Ireland, moved to Sackets Harbor in 1865 from Canada. He died in 1870, age 44 years. Richard, a Blacksmith by trade, married Mary Crow of Ireland, she died Nov 28 1889 age 68y 9m. Children of Richard Boyd & Mary Crow: *Ellen, *Mary, *John, *James, *Martha (she died April 6 1881 at age 29).
James Boyd moved with his parents to Canada at two years of age. In 1865 they moved to Sackets Harbor. He married Mary Lindsey (born 1849 and daughter of Thomas & Sarah Wright Lindsey). Mary died in 1925. Children of James Boyd & Mary Lindsey: *Eva (born in1870 she married? Earl), *Hattie.

Brundidge

Isaiah Brundidge died in Pickney, Lewis County. He married Mary Jeffreys (also spelled Jeffers), Children of Isaiah Brundidge and Mary Jeffreys: *Daniel L.
Daniel L Brundidge born March 24 1806 in Saratoga County NY. He served with Co. I, 10th NYHA. He married Lucy Green (born 1812 in Lewis Co NY and died May 11 1886). Daniel died March 15 1880. ref 1850 Census Hounsfield Daniel L. 40y Lucy 38y. Edgar H. Brundidge served with Co. I 10th NY Cav for three years, and was honorably discharged. He married Margaret J.? (the daughter of Robert & Elizabeth Irwin?  Prince Edward, Ontario). Children of Edgar H Brundidge & Margaret J.: * Dell R., *Emma E.

Butterfield

John Butterfield, son of Jonathan moved from the East to Wisconsin, then to Iowa, where he died at age 76 years. He married Jane Wilson (daughter of Zelotes & Lovisa Wilson of Adams NY). Children of John & Jane: *Augusta, *Schuyler, *George E.
George E Butterfield 1831-1923 located in Sackets Harbor on December 1858. He married Kate Shean (1833-1903 daughter of John & Mary Shean of Little Falls, Iowa). George served with B, 186th NY Vol. and held the rank of 1st Sergeant. H/l/4a main St. undertaker Child’s business index. He served as Town Clerk for two years. On Sept 11 1877 he was Secretary for Sackets Harbor Lodge No. 135 F. & A. M. The Lodge occupied a room in the Old Union Hotel. The first meeting was held May 12 1828. George was also a member and Secretary in 1877 of the Sackets Harbor Chapter No. 68 R.A.M. formed on Feb 7 1820. He was a deputy collector of United States customs.
